Great Nations Exhibit

G8 Logo                       Unity Logo

Canada was built on the hard work of everyone who calls Canada home. Muskoka has always been an area where people from different nations could come together to trade, work and celebrate. People have come from all over the world to live in Muskoka, bringing their traditions, values and symbols with them. In 2010 many of the great nations of the world will be meeting for the G8 Summit in Muskoka. In honour of the G8, the Muskoka Museum is celebrating the contributions made by all of the Great Nations of the world to our lives.

This exhibit focuses on the diversity of the settlers of Muskoka, as well as the diversity of the many people who have called Muskoka home. It showcases some of the treasured heirlooms families brought with them when they moved to Muskoka, some of the hardships the early settlers had to endure in their new homes and celebrates the ways in which Muskoka residents have melded their traditional ways into the society they encountered here.
